What does The Trust Do?

Assists in Continuous Improvement of Teaching and Learning

The Newark Trust for Education serves as a catalyst for and architect of programs, partnerships, and initiatives that develop individual and organizational capacities in:

  • Student learning
  • Instructional leadership

Aligns Resources

The Newark Trust for Education works to ensure that internal and external resources are aligned and focused on the instructional core, in order to facilitate systemic improvement linked to student learning.

The Trust is working to map external resources so that funders, service providers, and university partners can allocate services and resources in a strategic and focused way.

Supports Implementation of Sustainable Initiatives and Efforts

The Newark Trust for Education is working to:

  • Identify, organize, facilitate, and support implementation strategies that remove obstacles to improvement efforts, build internal capacity for instructional leadership, and inform, strengthen, and endorse policies that enable full scale implementation of instructional improvement efforts linked to student learning 
  • Enhance the governance capacity of the district and the community by empowering the community with knowledge and skills
  • Bridge theory and practice by assisting in bringing successful programs and initiatives to scale
  • Build capacity to implement school improvement or turnaround plans
